« on: July 02, 2009, 08:09:45 AM »
Her good citizens bronze last night!  Yipeeee!

It was a close - on the recall test, Coco decided to run via me and sniff around elsewhere inthe hall  >:D  She came to me inthe end though (phew) and we passed.  She knew i didnt have treats on me, she just knew it!!  :005:

Anyhoo, onto the silver now after a summer break that is.

The dog done good  :luv:

:luv: Congratulations! It must be the nosy cocker thing to want to run and say 'Hello' to all and everything when doing recalls - Carla got it out of her system before we started when she did her bronze on the 22nd.  Well done to you as well.  Hope the silver goes good, I know we shall struggle, good luck. Coco you are sooo clever, go boy go!!! love Heather xxx

Well Done & congratulations to both of you, it's a lovely feeling isn't it when the hard work pays off.

My Smudge got his on Monday this week and I am still feeling chuffed to bits.

If you want you can go to the Kennel Club website http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/ and download the silver test (go to the dropdown menu headed working with dogs) and choose training then the parts you wish to view, print it off or save it and then you will know the bits you need to practice (all of em in Smudge's case  :005: ).  The care and responsibility questions are on separate download, but on the same menu as is the Canine Code. You can download any of these if you wish to.

Hope this info helps

Thank you for your replies and thank you 'mudmagnets' for the info on the silver award.
I will be checking it out when i am feeling brave enough!

I'm going to start some clicker training with Coco (after hearing about it on here of course).  I've ordered the book 'dont shoot the dog' and am really looking forward to starting.

Well done to Smudge and Carla too - clever little doggies.

Michelle & Coco x
p.s. love the name 'mudmagnets' so apt i bet!

Very well done Coco and Carla for achieving your bronze awards!!
Also big congrats to Smudge to for getting his silver! Milly got hersilver on the 22nd - feels good eh?!
very clever cockers one and all!  :luv: :luv:

I was really worried about this bit too, (along with the lead work ph34r). I didn't know if the examiner was going to be sitting down with a sausage in her hand or what!
Turns out she had us all stood up, and wandered up to each of us in turn with a rustley bag of treats. what she was looking for was more the handler's control really. Milly was ok, but at the very last minute when the treat was about to be given she could resist no longer, and jumped up. The examiner just said to me to ask her for "off", which she did.
Thought we'd messed up but she still passed us.
Good luck with the training, I'm sure you will be fine!

Jo & Milly xx

oops no!! Smudge got his Bronze (he ain't that good  :005:) I was looking at the Silver on the KC site, where I read about refusing food,

Well done Milly

But there does seem to be a lot of different interpretations to the exercises depending who judges.

Sorry smudge! I'm sure you will get your silver soon.
Gawd! I keep making mistakes on here at the mo - must be all the late nights/fact that I'm blonde(out of a bottle)/andover a certain age  ph34r ph34r. Not much hope for me then!  :005:
