I think Larnie has been stung !?!
« on: August 05, 2009, 09:49:30 PM »
Larnie has been lethargic since lunchtime, and I put it down to the weather - it has been so hot and 'close' here today, she has been dozing on and off all afternoon.  However this evening I woke her up and gave her some supper and she ate most of it, but when I rubbed her head/ears she yelped out in pain.  I picked her up and put my hands over her head and she yelped again.

I cannot see where she would have been stung at all, and am not convinced it is a sting as she is now chewing a soft play toy, unless she is stung on the ear or around there.

I have bathed her face and head and inside/outside ears with boiled cooled water and a cloth, which she seemed to enjoy and let me do, and I cannot see any swelling.

Has anyone got any ideas of what this could be if not a sting?

If she hasn't perked up tomorrow then its off to the vets.

Well I did take her out today, but she stayed out on the main park, unless she picked one up from the garden.  She is only 11 and a half weeks but is creeping around like an old lady, although as I said is eating, drinking and still chewing (just all done slowly!).

This is exactly what Brodie was like with her leg a few days ago and I could not find anything wrong . She yelped any time I touched it but there was no lumps or bumps at all - she also slept a lot and just wasn't herself. Hope Larnie's feeling better tomorrow :luv: :luv:

Awww thanks, sounds like both our girls deal with pain in the same way - hoping for recovery tomorrow.

Aww poor Larnie, could it be an ear infection as they are extremely painful and would make her cry.      Hope shes better tomorrow, if not a vet trip in order I think.     :-*

Yes, I did wonder that - I'm clueless as to what it is - so off to vets unless she is better tomorrow - I'll report tomorrow with results.

Hope Larnie is ok. :'(
My girls took Milly out yesterday & found a ?hornet, ? horsefly thing still attached to her front leg. She was scraping her leg along the floor, then started doing backflips & was limping. DD was so worried she carried her all the way home. The little blighter fell off but left its sting, which was removed & the wound treated.
I couldn't feel a lump, and she let me touch it.
Poor Larnie, Hope she's better tomorrow.  :luv:

Just out of interest when did she have her injections? could it have been a reaction to the vaccine?

Oh yes I didn't think of that - it was about 2 days afterwards.  I suppose because she had been fine for the rest of that day and then the next day I just forgot about it.  I think thats what it must have been - doh!  ::)

I would keep a record with her vaccine card - so when she has her next lot you can say this and also make a note if it happens again and take it to the vet (that's what I would do if I got the injections done again that is )
