Being sick and lethagic after booster
« on: February 05, 2010, 06:04:27 PM »
Just got back from taking Mollie for her booster injection and having her anal glands emptied, on the way home she started off OK, then she got slower and slower with her walk, she was then sick, lay down, I got her back up again, she was sick again and then lay down and wouldn't get back up again. After twenty of her laying down everytime we got her up a neighbour drove past and gave us a lift home.

Since being home she has just laid in her bed, got up a couple of time for a drink, but refused to eat her tea. Could it be just because she is a bit down after the injection, she is normally fine. I rang the vets and they said it could be over excitement.

That's not acceptable from your vet   :o  firstly you need to fill in an adverse reaction form at the vets, it's obviously a reaction to the booster.

How is she doing now?

Indie had her booster the other day and she tired afterwards and slept for a while, she wasn't sick though.    As for the answer from the vets with regards to over excitement being the reason - are you sure you don't go to my vets.    ::) thats the sort of rubbish they spout.

I would ring them back up, if shes just tired then that can be a usual reaction - not sure about the sickness though - that doesn't sound right at all.    :-\     Hope she perks up soon.   :D

She hasn't been sick again, she is just sleeping on the sofa, so hopefully she is starting to feel a bit better. I'm just keeping a close eye on her as the vets close at 7pm, I am a bit annoyed with the vets, it was like I was just being stupid, it just depends who we actually see, some of them are OK.

even if she is perfectly fine in the morning please do fill out an adverse reaction form - it does need to go on record  ;)

If you are not happy with some of the vets at the practice - how about doing the same as we do at the Docs if possible. I always ask to see the same vet and if that is not possible I have a reserve 'choice'. - after all it is important to feel happy and confident with your vet me thinks  ;)
