oh Tilly

I hope you get on ok today and you feel better soon

Nic, if she were a person you would be describing me. I have always been normal weight for my height till a few years ago i was, constantly tired, vomiting, running to the toilet and dropped 3 stone in 5 weeks

After many tests it was discovered i had Crohn's Disease which is obviously a form of IBD.
The same as Tilly i wasn't absorbing nutrients so no matter what i was eating it wasn't staying in. I now have B12 injections once or twice a month to combat this, and they do help. At first i was on a seriously heavy duty dose of Prednisolone which was gradually reduced as and when necessary, The only side effect of this was the puffiness! I didn't feel especially hungry but they caused my face to swell ( especially my lips!)
I was put onto Azathioprine a few months ago but had to come off it as my immune system was already dangerously low

I have been looking into various things that can boost the immune system and I'm pretty sure Helen would have a few ideas on this. The immune system is a big part of this as IBD is caused by the immune system so if it can be boosted the symptoms should be reduced.
What I'm trying to say is i know it's different for dogs and people but I was also very ill and albeit with a lot of meds i still lead a pretty normal life with the exception of not being able to eat & drink some things, but it's a small sacrifice to be healthy and (almost!) normal again!
