There is only one cage in the Porsche and that is not designed to protect my doggy... So Paula has to share the footwell with the fire-ex :shades:

In our every-day VW Multivan she usually prefers the footwell or the space behind the front seats.

Only on long trips I usually fix her on the backseat (with her harness and the safety-belt) in a position as on the pic below.

She looks very comfy!!
I've gone past caring if I'm honest! ph34r :005: With 2 kids aswell, the car is always a hole! I do have waterproof covers on the front seats, as Smartie sits on the passenger seat, but likes to check the drivers seat is comfy and well adjusted before I get in!!! :005:
Apart from that, there is grass and sand all over the carpets, and mud splatters all over the windows and dashboard!
Now if we're talking about keeping the car clean with kids...................!!!!

I'm pretty thick i think - when you say the boot do you mean the far back part of an estate waggon buyt it's still inside the car ?(or station wagon as we say here) what do you call the trunk (that's what we (in Canada) call the thing with that is part of a sedan & which you only have access to from the outside behind the car - not clear I fear. Anyway my little guy mostly stays in the backseat with a harness on for highway trips &gets the car dirty.

Thanks for all the responses guys!

I've purchased a longer seatbelt and have come to the conclusion that the more times he travels in the boot the more he will get used to it! He is noisy in the car anyway but at the minute his barks are different so I think he is a little more anxious but I think once he gets used to it he'll love having his own little space and hopefully I'll only have a mucky boot which i can easily cope with!

I'm going to do a few mins driving round each night/day, give him some yummy treats in there and hope for the best!! if he doesn't get use to it its back to the back seat for him and loads of mess for me!!!!

Lintran dog box for us....fixed on to the boot floor and lockable so it means you could leave the hatch open and no one can take my girls...still wouldn't do it though

I really don't have a problem in the car, but then we only have 1 dog (so far!) The seats are leather, a large-ish piece of vetbed covers half the back seat, Morgan is harnessed in and usually goes to sleep. Occasionally get sand on the floor after beach outings but that's about it.  ;)

I gave up and bought a corsa van  :005: :005:. Think I will get an estate next time. Like Helen I've had someone crash into the back of me and Millie was fine, was a hard knock too and the floor and spare tyre well needed replacing.

Bella travels in a 36" crate, with carpet stuck to the base so she doesn't slide about. It is permanently on the back seats of my Fiesta. The front seats wedge it in. Being a 3 door hatchback, the boot's not an option. The car gets is filthy, but at least the windows don't get slobbered over as they did when I had Fern (She just travelled on the back seat, but we never went very far). It means I don't have to give anyone a lift anywhere  though :005:

We bought an Estate car it only made sense seeming as we have 2 dogs, OH goes fishing and plays golf so we need the space. dread to think what will happen when kids come along, we will drive a double decker bus  :005 As for the dogs, on very short journeys they tend to sit/lay on the back seat or foot well. For Journeys that are more than 10 mile they go into their mesh crate, it takes up the boot, depending on which way ts positioned. It has various zips though so you can access from dogs from front, side or back ( even the top ) it has pockets on it too, very handy, both dogs easily fall asleep in this, and you hardly even know there are in the car with you!! unless One starts mounting the other!  >:D :005:
