Bakers doesn't have a very high meat content and is full of all sorts of artificial nasties.

It has taken me about 10 months to convince my mum to swap her cocker from bakers to JWB.  Now she has Lucy doesn't smell (she used to stink of smelly dog which you could smell in the house - gone now!)  and her poop is much better!

She is a miserable thing anyway so I can't say that it has changed her behaviour!

sorry but had to smile - do you mean your mother or the dog ?

Feed my two Barking Heads Extemely pleased with it, saw the guys at Crufts yesterday and starting Dylan on their new senior which has just come out.   You usually find the better quality foods you feed less of, because their is no nasty fillers in.   So price wise it is worth the cost. I pay about £38 for 12KG it last me about 8wks might be a bit longer for feeding two dogs.

As Crazy Cocker Gang says, it's not the protein content in Bakers which is the problem (I don't actually think it's very high), but the artificial colours etc.   :005:

it is also the quality of the protein which is not as easily digestible as meat based proteins.
various cerials, various sugars and animal derivatives does not fill me with too much confidence regarding the quality either.

The dog! She is not a merry cocker! She is a rescue dog and although came from a family home clearly has had something missing as she is always v sad and miserable! Not a typical cocker at all!

When we first had Cinders at 12 weeks old we had an absolute nightmare as the guy we had her from used to feed her titbits off his plate!  But he did gave us a massive bag of Eukanuba and his parting words were " she will only eat that if absolutely necessary".  Mark and I were mega worried about what to do, so we started her on the Eukanuba, but it didn't suit her poor tummy. So when I took her to the vets I explained the situation and they gave me a free bag of Royal Canin.  I can honestly say we haven't looked back since and she literally wolves it down and always wants more!!!  The more I speak to others with dogs (not just Cockers) the more Royal Canin is recommended to me.  Ok it isn't THAT cheap, but I would rather my little baby enjoyed her food and had a happy tummy than feed her stuff that isn't that good for her.
