Breathing
« on: April 14, 2010, 10:02:07 AM »
Got a little worry - since we got Harvey he has been quite a snorey dog - even at tiny pup stage, he could snore for England! Last night, it reached mega proportions, just the odd grumble when he was sleeping, but very noticeable. Also, once we've settled down in bed, his breathing becomes really rapid - a bit like a closed mouth pant - he breathes like this for a little while then goes in to the snoring...then it settles off.

Am I being totally paranoid (I'm known to be!!) or should he go to the vets do you reckon?

Hi Coralee, a couple of mine are like this, especially when they go into a deep sleep. From my experience I don't think that it is anything to worry about as long as Harvey seems well in himself, eating okay, etc. I'm not sure if anyone else has more experience of it? Best wishes x

Maggie snores as well sometimes especially when she's really tired... and the little panty bit at the start I think is the doggy equivalent of REM and the first stages of sleep. I personally wouldn't worry about it as long as he's happy enough in himself :)

Mason rarely snores but he does breath really fast if he is settling and really relaxed - I take it as a compliment now  :luv: :luv:

Smudge snores like a goodun too - but not as loud as me dad used to, he was in hospital once and the nurse asked mum how she ever got any sleep  ::)
