Question about Cocker Rescue
« on: April 14, 2010, 06:52:58 PM »
In the sticky post at the top, it gives a link to The Cocker Spaniel Club Rehoming & Rescue Representatives. It also gives a link to a site called The Dog Rescue Pages. On the latter, if you click on the "Breed Rescue" link under "Finding a Rescue Centre", it takes you to a breed list; once you click on Spaniel (Cocker), it gives two numbers for Cocker Spaniel Club Rescue, neither of which correspond to any numbers on the CSC site. Is this a completely separate and different Cocker Rescue, or is it that the details are out of date?

I was going to pm the person who originally posted the post, but it looks like she hasn't logged in for a fair while.

The link via dogpages may well be outdated - I would go off the CSC site  ;)

OK thanks! Just to say, though, that the CSC site is itself outdated - they have no rep for Sussex at the moment, even though one is listed. For me, that means my nearest rep is on the Isle of Wight (though she's not answering her phone atm! must be away), and the next nearest one is a LONG LONG way away (Bedfordshire).

What about calling the main rescue co-ordinator instead?

I spoke to her today, and she said that if I couldn't get through to the Isle of Wight one, or if she wasn't willing to take my application, then I could send it to her. So I will wait a couple of days, see if the IOW one materialises, and, if not, send the application to Leicestershire.

Thanks.

hmmmm....well it's start I guess :dunno: Sometimes the system is made very difficult for people to rescue  :-\

I would get yourself homechecked for Lizzies Barn and for Four Paws too in case they get some lovely cockers in  ;)

hi Tracey

I'm in the south-western most part of Hampshire. If you would be so kind as to check the rescue directory, that would be great (feel free to pm me).

Thanks, I will do that. I didn't know you could get homechecked before actually applying for a particular dog.

I've just filled out the application form for Four Paws and have put a note at the bottom explaining that I'm applying in hope! I will email Lizzie's Barn (it doesn't look like they have a form) and see what they say as well.

we most likely wouldn't homecheck people in advance unless we had a suitable dog in

Oh ok, Penny, thanks!

The application that I've already submitted to Four Paws, will it be rejected (because of not applying for a specific dog, ie would I need to apply again if one came up), or will it be kept on file?

This is interesting, when my family got Tilly (we were living in West Sussex) but we were told about her by the rep for Dorset. We drove to Poole to get Tilly.

How long ago was that, tillydog?
