What Colour to Register Puppies?

I am planning to do my puppies' KC registrations tomorrow but am just a little hesitant as to what colour to register two of the oranges as.

The blue puppies are all definitely blue roan. Two of the oranges, although still fairly white have solid black pads so I am confident that they are orange roan. But the other two oranges still have moderate sized pink circles on the pads of their feet and so I am wondering if they are in fact orange and white?

My bitch is registered as orange roan but looks very much more like orange and white ticked and she certainly has a good few recessive colour genes in her last few generations. Dad is blue roan but there are a few orange and whites in his lineage a couple of generations back.

The puppies are 3 weeks old. Should the pads have turned completely black by now if they are roans, or is it likely that it will just take another couple of weeks?

At least a couple more weeks with oranges, maybe more With these colours, it's probably better to wait a while before registering - the KC processes registrations pretty quickly these days (especially if done online) so there's no real need to register early like used to be the case in the old days.

Thanks Jane. I'll wait a bit then. If I leave say 2 and a half weeks for the registrations to be processed (I'm planning to do them online) will that be long enough? I want to be confident that all the paperwork will be through for the puppies being collected at 8 weeks.

I agree I used to register my pups too early and have come unstuck with colour markings.  I have had tan markings come out much later after I have registered pups and had to change the registrations.  The on line registrations are usually back now within a week providing all the names you have registered the pups with are accepted.  I would wait another week or so.

I was still undecided at 6 weeks because 2 of my orange roans still had pink bits on pads.
