Why oh why???

So I take roxy out on her 2nd ever walk today. 

It took us 1.5 hours to walk around the block, something that would take me 30 minutes on my own.  She was very good just too interested in everything else going on.  She had 3 wee's whilst we were out.  She ran around the garden for a bit when we got back and then ran straight indoors and.......did a massive wee on the carpet!!!  Cheeky little girl, are our verges and pavements not good enough!! :005:

Charlie, my 4 month old cocker spaniel loves his walks but he wont go for a wee/poo on a walk :huh: he waits till we get back home. First couple of times he would go straight back in the house and do his buisness in there so now when we come back from a walk I put him up the garden for abit & he will go up there instead.  :D

Brodie was like that when she was a pup - I have a clear memory of her desperately rushing home from the park as she couldn't hold out much longer :005:. As she got older she began to relax more, and now has no problems weeing/pooing out on walks

 :005: Alfie is exsaclty the same, has lots of wees whilst were out and then comes home and has a poo  :005:  >:D

Yup - it's very common that pups don't initially know they're allowed to go to the toilet on walks - it'll come in time!!!  :D

Thanks for the reassurance! He has only ever been for one wee on a walk, and when we get closer to home he'll start crying. I try to take him for walks with other dogs to show that it's okay to go, I suppose he'll get the hang of it after a while :005: :D

If you have taught a que word try using that! thats what we did, as we wanted to train her to only wee and poo on grass not pavements etc (and not our patio!!)

We used exactly the same method of saying 'do a wee, or do a poo'  and then rewarding her as we did in the garden.  Worked really well and its suprisingly useful to be able to get her to wee and poo on demand!
