Alfie, 8mths is taking digging to new extremes! He has been working hard at a number of holes near the back door and despite the ground being like concrete with virtually no top soil he has reached a depth of 12". All my tubs are covered over with large chicken wire frames and large bolders (hanging baskets only this year) as he was jumping onto them and emptying out the compost in very short space of time. Now he is randomly scaraping and digging successfully on the lawn so it is beginning to look as if its been invaded by moles but plus the holes! Needless to say he smells very strongly of earth and as he has thick hairy paws, they are clarted in it too. We've tried distracting, playing with him with his toys buts he's like somebody possessed by his digging! As I've mentioned in a previous thread, he is partial to burying chews, but most of the time he's digging for the sake of digging. He also likes to 'dig' on the carpet, sofa and our laps. Any suggestions on how we can overcome this?
