My boy Monty
« on: June 23, 2010, 10:23:35 PM »
I have had Monty for 3 years now, he was a gorgeous golden cocker spaniel with a very good nature.

Last May whilst I was on holiday he was diagnosed with Cardio Myopathy and was only given 3 months at the most. After managing his condition on medication he seemed to be pulling through.

A couple of weeks ago he started coughing again and was very lethargic, a trip to the vets told us that he had atrial fibrillation and he needed more medication. This was on the Friday, but by the Monday he was worse, although the ECG he had on the Monday showed that his heart rate had returned to normal.

When I got home from work on the Monday night my husband explained that Monty had collapsed and he had to help him into his bed. We immediately took him to the emergency vets who told us that he had suffered a stroke, and there was nothing more we could for him. He had to be put to sleep, and although we miss him greatly we did what was best for him, he isnt suffering anymore.

Monty, we will miss you forever, we hope you are playing with Sammy now and tell him we miss him too.
All our love, your family xxx
