We had the exact same problem with Annie when she hit 13 months. It was really easy to remedy  She now sleeps on our bed every night  ::)

One thing that puts me off having Freddie upstairs is what he would do when there is "nocturnal activity" in our bed (iykwim :005:). How do others manage? If they don't mind answering such a personal question, that is! ph34r

It's one of the reasons my dogs aren't allowed upstairs at night, performing to a very interested audience just doesn't work for me or OH :lol2:

We've got Jess on our bed now at nights.  In the situation you mention - ahem! -  she gets off the bed in great annoyance, takes herself off to her crate in the corner,  and goes to sleep.   :005:

'It' doesn't happen in our house very often for that very reason. Oh well, it makes a change from saying I've got a headache  :005: :005: :005:  (OH, if you're reading this, I'm only joking - honest  ph34r)  :005:
Mummy loves her angels - but they're not angels all the time - They love to chew and charge about - but mummy doesn't mind

This thread has taken an interesting turn :005:  - We had a cat that used to take her roll as chaperon very seriously and would insert herself between us at every opportunity - and be very difficult to dislodge too.

Saffi isn't getting the chance though   ;):- She seems to have given up on her bid to come upstairs - Her howling/whimpering has faded and last night we didn't get even a peep out of her. :luv:

I think it was just a little insecurity over the other dogs, followed by a realisation that I would come down if she called + testing her boundaries.

Yey! I'm so pleased for you... being a hard, heartless person really does pay off for everyone sometimes :005: (Both my kids from small babies have been brilliant sleepers too.. but it's amazing how quickly it can all go wrong when over anxious OH starts interferring at night....  ph34r)

testing her boundaries.

Hmm... Wish I could believe Freddie is just testing the boundaries! Thing is, he has been waking up early for months and months! Now we have darker mornings he has got worse not better! Thought I had cracked it with a bedtime snack of shredded wheat or potato but that only worked for 3 days and it was probably just a coincidence - he is now back to waking up any time after 5 and sometimes before (usually 5.30ish). Had some advice a while back to get up before he wakes up and sit quietly downstairs, no interaction then move time back gradually. Trouble is he has no regular waking time and as soon as he hears creaking floor boards, he starts barking.  >:D I am beginning to get really hacked off with it. Well, no, I have been hacked off with it for ages now but can't think how to solve the issue without having him up with us
