I'm Confused about Toilet Training

Can I or can't I allow Betsy to go outside my front door and do her toiletting on the small amount of grassland area there is, if I put down a puppy training pad down.  My brother who thinks that he is the Dog Guru, since he has had 2 Labradors in the past 7 years.  He says that I shouldn't let Betsy out until she has had the full amount of innoculations that she should have.  Is this correct or what?  I don't want her to catch anything.  No other dogs are anywhere near this patch of grassland area, but there are foxes!!

Someone much more experienced will come along to answer you but from my understanding we were told that before both injections, Toby was allowed places where I was certain no un vacinated dogs had been. So my garden and friends gardens yes but I didnt let him go on places I really wasnt certain other dogs had been.

Yes I do, but the nextdoor neighbour had a little Jack Russell that might have been round the back, although that was at least 6 months ago, they moved since then.

Can anyone else advise me what is best?  I don't want Betsy to get ill by going to wee in the wrong place.

I think you are going to have to make your own mind up about this one. 

Ideally you don't want your pup spending any time where there have been unvaccinated dogs - or foxes, of course.  Betsy is not protected until a week after her second shot. Until then, she is very vulnerable.   Parvovirus, for instance, can be picked up from the ground - and yes, foxes can have it too.  I would not consider putting a young pup down in a public area such as the one you describe.

Thanks Jessandme, you have put my mind at rest.  I'll just let her wee on her puppy training pads.  I've got 100 of them, so that she keep, hopefully, my place dry and as I'm at home all day, I can keep an eye on Betsy.
