Oh heck, the Kleeneze man just thought Toby had badly injured himself or someone was really hurting him.  If someone comes to the front door and Toby can't get to them he literally screams.  It's sounds like the noise they make when they have really hurt themselves IYSWIM.  I was embarrassed to be honest, the whole street must have heard it.  I know why Toby does it - it's because he can't get to the person at the door.  Is it normal for cockers to scream like this through excitement.  Frankly it was really really embarrassing.  >:D

Little so and so's they are - he is sooooo exciteable and it was really embarrassing - the man looked at me as if to say "who's killing your dog"  :005:

Don't fret, after a few years it becomes the norm  :005: :embarassed:

We have 2 screamers here  :shades:  Georgia is an excited screamer e.g if she knows we are going to play ball etc whilst we are out walking she screams beforehand.  ph34r :005:  There is one particular field if we walk past she starts screaming to go in.  >:D  She will also scream if she gets over excited playing with some dogs.  :police:  I have sort of become oblivious to the stare's from some peeps.  ph34r :005:
Nina screams sometimes even if its just a sudden movement from anyone & of course it makes people think she has been hurt, when she hasn't.  :police:  I have even had people apologise to me because they thought their dog had hurt her & i have to explain to them no she is just very vocal.   :police:

I am pretty relieved that Alfie & Jo Jo are non screamers though  :013: :005:

Yes we have one too  :embarassed: Mollie squeels when she is excited chasing around or after birds  >:D
She has also started doing it, as well as barking, when other dogs approach her  :dunno: I want to try and stop it so will watch this thread  ;)

Toby has always squealed like a piglet when he is chasing another dog and can't catch it and people find this funny but the noise he made just now was like he was really being hurt.   Oh well, as long as I don't get a visit from the RSPCA  :005:

2 screamers here as well  :005:

I remember once we were at Chatsworth horse show watching the show jumping and a man sitting about 20 feet away opened a bag of crisps and Ben started doing his high pitched screaming, it was so embarressing, I had to drag him away sounding like I was killing him  ph34r

I was pleased to see this thread as people laugh when I say Riley "screams". It's normally when he sits at the patio doors and spots a cat walking on the wall of HIS garden. He starts to scream and run towards the back door (or tries to run as he can't quite grip on the wooden floor). Dread to think what the neighbours think as he's still at it as he's running down the garden!

Fraser also screams when there's someone at the door. I didn't know dogs could make a sound like that. I'd be happy with a few barks and it is kind of embarrassing. Is this a cocker characteristic? Luckily, he doesn't do it for anything else.

Our 1st cocker, Tia, doesn't scream and barely barked.

Then we got Jake who is 6 months old this weekend, now I know what "screaming" is  >:(  it's usually at our cats  >:(

Jake is so much more vocal, he even moans when he is being cuddled or groomed but he seems to like it at the same time  :huh:  he's a right little yacker sometimes and Tia has of course become a bit more vocal  :005:

Should have stuck with the one  :005:  I'm only joking of course, we love Jake to bits  :luv: and he is such a good boy in so many other ways  :angel:

Brandy used to scream like almighty when someone knocked on the door, he would try lunging out, then when i stopped him doing that he started bouncing up and down so he could see out the window - must of been hilarious seeing a big floppy dog going up and down lol

I gave up in the end and with the help of my neighbour we started putting a leash on him and getting her to knock on the door. I would make brandy sit at the door and until he was quiet i would not open it.

The second he was quiet i opened the door and made him sit nicely - once he was calm he was allowed to sniff my neighbour.

He's perfect at the door now, sits ever so quiet and patiently - took a good week or two but we kept practising and even the local police and postman were happy to help :)
