Preparing for a show
« on: May 20, 2012, 10:51:48 PM »
Hi everyone,

just want a bit of advice concerning grooming for a show... Is it acceptable/proper to use thinning scissors on legs/head? i can't imagine indie is going to let me strip those bits out. When she was groomed by a professional, she used thinning scissors on her head and it looked lovely but i just want to make sure i try and do these things right! the rest of her coat seems ready to be stripped out and it comes out easily so i'll strip her back tomorrow- she still has puppy fluff along the sides so is it advisable to leave this? is there any way of encouraging adult-hair growth? (i looove her puppy coat but she's 9 months today...?) She looks like such a scruff bag so i want to get on top of her coat in plenty of time before our open show debut at the end of june!

i've finally finished all my uni exams now- indie is not going to know what's hit her this week- new harness, on-lead training AND a haircut!?

thanks in advance!

Kate

Don't go too mad....the judges like puppies to look like puppies. Hand stripping is definitely the best way to go.

I've just made a start on Lewis (4 months) he is not really bothered about the stripping, it obviously is not uncomfortable, he's just a wriggle bum :005:
