I had never heard of this - and even though I live in a different area will be watching out for any of the symptoms just in case. Thanks for posting this

It's been an issue for a few years now - you can sign up with the AHT and they'll keep in touch with any updates; got an email from them just last week in fact: http://www.aht.org.uk/cms-display/seasonal_illness.html

It is very worrying, but one of those things that you just have to try and mentally shelve or your dogs will end up not having a walk for three months :-\

It's coming up to mushroom time ( both toxic and safe) - do you think it's possible dogs are finding them in the woods and scoffing them - it would explain how only one out of two out together could be affected - if they'd gobbled up a mushroom on their own?

My friends, two year old choccy lab died of this a couple of years ago  :'( We are in southern Hampshire.

That does sound like a very likely cause given the timing and symptoms. I wonder if they've done any toxicology test?

There are numerous ongoing tests and investigations going on into this by the AHT.
