Toby (2) is our first male cocker. He was neutered early and hasn't cocked his leg. He can though, he liked having the inside of his right leg tickled and he'll hold it up then, but he won't cock his leg to pee. It did take him a bit longer than the girls with the house training but he's spot on now.
We had him not long after losing our Lucy (almost 13) and we were originally looking for a bitch but I'm glad Toby found us. I think it would have been too hard to have a cocker that was too like Lucy. He's an absolute dream. He's so loving I can't put it into words. Where Lucy was independent and even a little bossy at times but up for everything, Toby is a big softy and my baby. He was 19 weeks when we had him and I think if we had still had Lucy he would have adored her. He very much likes you to be the boss and he is far more interested in his family group than anyone outside it.
My suggestion would be to go to a cocker show, if you can, and see. You can have an opportunity to have a look at the differences between the boys and girls and talk to loads of people who will help you decide and see who is breeding the dogs that you like. That's if within 5mins of being there you don't say "I want them all!"

Often breeders may have slightly older dogs, possibly a bitch closer in age to Minney, if that might suit you better.
Don't let people make you feel guilty about having another cocker. You never replace the ones you have to let go. It's a testament to how wonderful Dizney is and all the love and good times you have had that you'll be able to give another dog a home despite how much it hurts.
