Swollen face**UPDATE**
« on: October 16, 2012, 01:42:04 PM »
Off to the vets at 5pm as Bailey last night developed a small lump on the right side of her face under her eye.

Sure it is not a sting as have had experience of this before.  As she is 18wks and full of life she often has a competition with my older cocker as to who can get through any open door first and I thought that maybe during one of these times she may have got a knock to her face in her rush.

She is acting perfectly normally, going everywhere at 100mph, eating at 100mph, playing at 100mph all quite normal for her :005:

I hoped it would have gone down overnight but it has not

It does not hurt her to touch it but it is quite solid.

Please hope it is nothing too serious, she is so diddy still :016:

She's probably run into something at 100mph and bruised herself, but best to get it checked as it's not going down yet. Hope it goes well at the vets :luv:

Thanks everyone, we are back now.

Vet says it looks like the symptoms of a tooth root abcess but it is highly unlikely in a dog of her age. :dunno:

She had a little squirm when her felt it but didn't yelp so seems to be more uncomfortable than painful.

It could also be a minor bone trauma but def no broken jaw or any broken teeth. :dance04:

She has had anti-biotic & anti-inflammatory injections and has both as meds for the next week

Only needs to go back if she gets any worse or doesn't get any better by the weekend.

She is currently chasing Jazz round the garden and barking her head off so no ill effects at all, still eating like a ganet and generally being a pup so all good really. :005: :005: :005:

Well poor Bailey has been having her meds for a week now and no change to the lump on her face >:D >:D >:D

It is still not causing her any problems and does not hurt at all (I have been feeling to see if it has got any smaller).

We are back at the vets tomorrow as it has not gone but I am a bit worried as was told the next step would be to sedate her to enable them to do an x-ray & maybe open her up to see what it is, she is only 19wks tomorrow poor baby

Fingers crossed that all goes well tomorrow and that there's no surgery on the cards for little Bailey.

What a worry for you  :bigarmhug:

I hope it all goes well at the vets tomorrow and they can make a definite diagnosis without having to do anything invasive.
