Tinned fish - what type and how often?
« on: July 30, 2012, 01:30:00 PM »
Hi All,

I'm thinking of trying my boys on tinned fish. Please could you tell me which fish you use, the liquid they are in, how much and how often you feed them.

Thanks, Jacqui

When Bingley came home he has a couple of tinned sardines in tomato sauce every day with his dinner.

He has them occasionally now. He loves them, but as we don't eat fish (the smell  :020: ) I don't buy them that often.

Max has a tin of sardines in tomato sauce with a raw egg once a week.
He has also had tuna in spring water but not very often as it is pretty expensive.

Kez has a small tin of sardines in either oil or tomato sauce (NOT brine, salt water).
She has a tin per week & I divide them up into 5 or 6 portions & mix with part of her kibble, I always give some of her kibble plain & dry otherwise she may get to not like it, ;) she absolutely LOVES the fish, she can hardly wait for it to be ready. :clapping:

they absolutely love them & go completely bonkers as soon as i open the tins  :005:
I just put 1/2 tin each on top of their kibble.  :shades:

William and Louis share a 425g tin of pilchards in tomato sauce once a week. I drain a bit of the tomato sauce off and then the pilchards + remaining sauce are exactly the correct weight to make a full meal for both of them.

I give Bob fish once a week he will have pilchards, mackerel, sardines
not too sure about Tuna as it has high levels of mercury in it, so i would not feed it to Bob,
i also don't feed him Raw Salmon as they can get Salmon poisoning from it

Milly gets a 120g tin of Tesco's sardines in sunflower oil once a week. She also likes sardines in tomato sauce but isn't as keen on the brine version.

Mistakenly gave her a small tin of anchovies once. She wolfed them down in seconds but emptied her water bowl right after....Twice. :005:

OFten give them a tin of sardines in tomato as a treat, and if Taz has done well at an agility competition they get a tin of salmon between them.
