Thanks for that . I haven't heard of it but will look into it. Vermex has been recommended too.

I have also received the results of Ozzy's worm count and it was clear.

But I have  been looking into how accurate these tests are and one web site said that because only a small amount of poo is checked and shows no infestation that does not mean that the dog does not have worms.

I know you can drive yourself mad with googling and sometimes you just don't know what to believe.

I will carry on using the worm count and use Milbemax if needed but  also look into a natural wormer.

An update now that I've had the results.

Lungworm count - both dogs clear.

Other worms count - Louis clear. William had a moderate roundworm count and a low tapeworm count so has been wormed with Milbemax.

The company suggests testing every 6 months but I think I'll test again in 3 months, out of curiosity more than anything else, to see if both dogs are clear or not, then go to 6 monthly testing if the results after 3 months are OK.

No they don't if they're treated, but they can become reinfected.

Waited a few days before harvesting the poo but that's the samples away now. Milly and Chaz have been getting a bit of a complex with the two of us watching their lavatorial perambulations and dashing out to grab a sample while it was fresh  .

The samples were taken "in situ" so to speak and the remaining poo bagged and binned but the performance attracted the attention of one of our neighbours who helpfully offered the loan of a trowel as she thought we were having difficulty getting the poo out of the grass  . She's a lovely old lady but a little confused at times so, when we tried to explain that we were collecting samples to send away for worm testing, she looked a bit puzzled then said that the snow and rain must have killed off quite a few worms over the winter.
We agreed and beat a hasty retreat into the kitchen just before bursting out laughing  . Shame, felt a bit guilty about that as she really is a nice neighbour who was just trying to be helpful.

I have been considering worm count for a while and have just ordered a test kit.  With 5 dogs would I need to test them all at once or could I spread the cost and do a different one each month?  (Or would this mean they pass worms back and forth if one was affected?)

I don't know. I have 2 dogs and did them at the same time but that's not as expensive as doing 5 at once . Probably best to email wormcount.com and ask them

We ordered the wormcount kits that night after the lecture, brilliant. Krumble is booked in for her titre test next week too rather than vaccinations. Quite excited about that. Will be doing the same for Muppet and hopefully not vaccinating her too.

The results are back for Milly and Chaz.

Both clear for Lungworm and Heartworm. Chaz is low for roundworm and clear for all others. Milly's low for roundworm and tapeworm but also clear for all others.
