Jasper used to jump all over everyone, now he's turned 18 months he is much better although I am sure we would got here quicker if more consistant. When ever I let him out in the morning he knows not to jump and now comes in and onto floor for fuss.
That's not saying that he doesn't get excited by visitors but we try to get them to ignore him - especially all the children who come until they are ready to say hello. If it's anyone I don't think would appreciate jumps, I admit I put both dogs into their beds for the duration unless my visitor says otherwise.
Having said Hello, if they then ignore him, he will go and lie down quietly (other than a couple of friends that he knows can't resist his advances).
Louie is not too bad but I'd certainly try the lead especially for tinies when they visit as they can't push away so easily.
