I think I understand what Adele was trying to say - at least, I know that I have emphasised so much to my OH the importance of reputable breeding, and all the reasons why commercially bred puppies are more likely to be sick etc, that he then asked me why I was prepared to consider a rescue dog, because they could well have been commercially bred, and therefore more likely to have these problems

He is quite right - but rescuing a dog is about accepting that, and being selfless enough to recognise that your time with them may be shorter, or your relationship not what you expect with a rescue dog

Not everyone can always offer a rescue dog what they need; we couldn't when we got Molo and so sought a reputable breeder - but when we are in a position to rescue a dog, then I would not hesitate to do so, accepting that they come with baggage, be that medical or behavioural

It would be lovely if P-F didn't exist, and all dogs were bred reputably, and homed to loving, suitable homes - but it doesn't happen, and never will, imo
