Hi all,
I would love to hear from those of you whose dogs have had cataract surgery - for how long have your dogs been on eyedrops afterwards, or are they maybe still getting some regularly?
The reason I am asking that we have had sort of a conflicting experience with Jerry's right and left eye, respectively.
He had his first surgery on the right eye in January, was on eyedrops until about 3 months or so afterwards, and ever since they eye has been great, no redness, does not require any more drops.
Then Jerry had his second surgery in July on the left eye. The surgery itself went very well and the eye healed very fast. But even though we have reduced, over the last months, the eydrops to one or two drops a day (Prednisolone and Flurbiprofen) it just seems that I am not able to take him entirely off them. The eye is still sensitive to, for example, exitement/playing/when he's tired, and easily turns red. This eye just seems a lot more sensitive to these factors than the other eye. I am starting to wonder if he might have to stay on these drops, if needed, for a long time or even a lifetime? The eye vet does not seem overly concerned, and I have only been communicating to him over the phone (never get to speak to him directly, it's always through the assistants

) and have reported to him how Jerry's eyes are doing every few weeks, but he doesn't want me to come in again. Also, is anyone aware of possible long term side effects of these eyedrops?
Any thoughts/ experience-sharing would be greatly appreciated - thanks!
