Hi, I'm sorry about Dizney.

Re male cockers hiking their legs to pee in the garden, you might find a male more garden-friendly than a bitch because males are supposed to cause less brown patches on lawns.  This is because they go around parcelling out their wees in small amounts whereas a bitch just goes and squats in one place.  This releases all the nitrogen on one spot and causes the brown patches.  So I'm told anyway.  I do think we have less brown patches now with a boy and a girl than we did with two girls.

Alfie is neutered and cocks although it took him until he was 8 months or so to do so.  He tends to cock most on his walk sometimes 7 or so times.  But he doesn't do it in the garden.  I think you will find they only cock to cover up a former dogs wee this is where the term top dog comes from I believe.  I can't see him cocking in the garden unless he genuinely needs a wee, Alfie just lifts his leg he doesn't necessarily need to be weeing up something.

Depends on the dog.  I have two males, both neutered.  The terrier was neutered at 7 years old and always cocks his leg in the garden and on walks.  The spaniel was neutered at a year old and cocks his leg everywhere.  The spaniel is the more dominant of the two and he'll lazily cock his leg in the garden, but on walks he hikes up his leg as high as possible when marking.  The spaniel still marked the garden even when he was the only dog in the household so some dogs cock their legs to mark regardless of whether there are other dogs around.
